Montenvers, Mont-Blanc

Refuge du Montenvers

A red cable car runs along mountain slopes from Chamonix to 1913 metres above sea level.  The kids are in awe, we have clear skies and the views are breathtaking.   It’s the only way to get to the Refuge du Montenvers, perched on the Mont-Blanc and overlooking the Mer de Glace and the mythical Aiguille des Drus.  Our home for the night.

Chamonix

Mer de Glace

Refuge du Montenvers

The refuge was built in 1880 to accommodate the first mountaineers and travelers who came to visit the largest glacier in France, 7km long and 200m deep.

Once there, the view is spectacular, the food as cozy as french alpine cooking can get and the walks around the refuge, overlooking the mythical Mer de Glace and the dramatic Chamonix pics outstanding.  The next morning after breakfast, the red cable car is still there to take us back.  Should we stay or should we go?
